Calendar

The Calendar functionality in the Socious Tools allows members to keep track of the events that are going on within your organization. Users will only see the Calendar events for the groupsto which they belong. This allows the system to tailor the events that are available to be seen in the system to each user.

When creating an event, users with the appropriate security can add attachments and links to outside materials or pages for the event. Users will see the events for the groups they are a part of, and all of the information for those events on the Home page of the system and in their personal calendar found on their User Profile. Members can also download events to their own personal Outlook Calendar.

The Calendar allows organizations an easy and powerful way to keep users informed about the current events within your organization.

Highlights of the Calendar:

  • Groups can create calendar items that are viewable by other users. Events can contain information on time, invitees, location, and description as well as attachments supporting the event
  • Groups can individually control security for each item to determine whether the event is public, private or only viewable by specific invitees.
  • When creating or updating an event, users of that group can be notified that a change has been made to the event or simply updated without notification.
  • When an event is created it will be seen by users that have the security to see the event. If the event is Public, all users will be able to see the event on their personal calendar. If the event is private, only members of the group associated with that event will be able to see the event.
  • Events that the user has the ability to see will show up in two places:
    • Home Page- The user will see their personal calendar on the home page when they log into the system. This will be all of the events, public and private, that are available to them for participation.
    • User Profile Page- On each user's profile page, he or she has access to a personal calendar. The calendar lists all of the events, public and private, to which the users is invited or subscribed to.
