Group Profiles

The Socious Tools allow your organization to capture information about the groups that are a part of the communication tool. Organizations can tailor the virtually unlimited number of fields that are available in the Group Profile to be sure that your organization has the information it needs about participating groups. This Group Profile also insures that groups can find other groups on the system for communication and collaboration.

Private Group functionality is also available for committees, ad-hoc groups, project teams and departments to set-up their private forum/listservs, file areas, events, news and more. The Group Database allows organizations to capture information, organize their user-base into clearly defined groups and search across all information captured within the Group Profiles.

Group Database Highlights:

  • Groups may be defined in any way the organization wishes to set them up. Allows for complete flexibility in defining how users are defined within an organization.
  • Each group can have multiple group and user administrators assigned to allow groups to manage themselves and their users more effectively.
  • Each group can have a ‘Home Page’ within the system. This page provides information about the group and its role in the organization. This ‘Home Page’ aggregates all of the forums, file areas, events, polls and news that is specific to the members of that group.
  • Administrators can require subscriptions to forum topics throughout the system for group members to automatically subscribe users to important information.
  • Each group in the system can have their logo displayed. This logo will show up on their Groups profile page, their Users profile page, next to any new items, forums or files that their users add to the system. This allows for a graphical representation of who the users are communicating with on the site.
  • A private group allows users from varying groups to join together to discuss and work on a particular interest area. Examples of Private Groups would be Project Teams, Departments, or Ad-Hoc Committees. The system has no limit as to how many Private Groups can be added.
  • The system lists all Private groups within the system and indicates if they are open for enrollment or not and who the main contact is for the group.
  • A private group can setup topics for news, forums and the technical library that may be deemed public or private. A private topic can only be seen by members of the private group, while a public topic may be seen by all users of the Socious Tools application.
